healthy balanced body with acupuncture treatment!
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a branch of Traditional Korean/Chinese Medicine. It dates back thousands of years. That is not to say that it is out-dated and irrelevant to modern people. If it were, it would no longer exist. As a matter of fact, the efficacy of it has been evaluated in several systematic reviews, showing positive results.
Acupuncture is based on a comprehensive health care system and has been used not only to diagnose and treat illness but also to improve well-being. Because of its holistic approach to health and effectiveness, it has quickly increased in popularity and gradually made its way out of Asia reaching the rest of the world in recent years.

How does Acupuncture work?
It is based on traditional eastern medicine theory that there is energy, called qi, flowing along 12 pathways, called meridian, through your body. From head to toe, meridians connect every part of the body, allowing for communication between different parts of the body through the movement of qi, blood, and body fluids. When it is balanced, your health is good and your body systems work in harmony. However, if the flow of qi is blocked at any point or unbalanced throughout your body, it may result in illness (pain, depression, confusion, or other physical or emotional dysfunction.).
Traditional Korean/Chinese medicine practitioners believe that acupuncture restores the flow of qi and brings health back. Acupuncture needles are gently placed through the skin along various key points to help rebalance Qi, or energy.
In western medical terms, acupuncture reduces pain through biological mechanisms, involving opioid peptides and stimulation of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, or changes in neurotransmitters, hormones, or the immune function.
How is Acupuncture done?
Usually very thin sterile needles are inserted into the skin at certain points on the body, called acu-points to stimulate qi flow along the body’s energy pathways. Once the needles are in place people experience a range of different sensations. Most people find it a relaxing experience.
The treatment also utilizes heat, or electrical current to stimulate qi flow along these meridians.
